EFT Tapping - Afraid To Be Seen

Have you ever felt that deep inner pull to share your voice, your gifts, or your truth but the moment you go to do it, something tightens inside you? Maybe you freeze, second-guess yourself, or suddenly feel the urge to hide.

This is the fear of being seen and it’s one of the most common blocks I witness in both myself and my clients recently.

At first, it can feel confusing. You want to grow, you want to be visible, and yet, there’s a part of you that resists it. Energetically, this fear often sits in the solar plexus (our centre of power and confidence) and the throat chakra (our voice and expression). Nervously, it’s tied to our body’s need for safety.

If, in the past, standing out or speaking up led to criticism, rejection, or even just feeling “too much,” your nervous system learned to associate visibility with danger. So even though your logical mind says, “It’s safe now,” your body says otherwise.

But visibility is not about ego. It’s about authenticity. It’s about allowing your energy to be seen and received by the world in its purest, most aligned form.

Reflect on this for a moment:

  • Being small is safer because…

  • Staying hidden is better because…

  • Being quiet protects me from…

Your answers will give you insight into what your subconscious is protecting you from.

Once you understand the “why,” you can begin to release the emotional charge behind it.

Below is a beautiful sequence inspired by Carol Look’s work, that helps to gently clear the energy of fear and open your body to feeling safer in your own visibility.

Tapping Sequence for “Afraid to be Seen”

Before you start, take a deep breath.
Notice how strong your fear of being visible feels on a scale of 0–10.

Now, gently tap through each point while saying the phrases below:

Side of Hand:
Even though I’m afraid to be visible, I deeply and completely love and accept myself anyway.
Even though I’m afraid to be seen and something bad might happen, I accept who I am and how I feel.
Even though standing out feels scary, I choose to honour my feelings and stay open.

Eyebrow: I’m afraid to be visible
Side of Eye: Being visible feels dangerous
Under Eye: I don’t want to stand out
Under Nose: I don’t want to be seen
Chin: I might get into trouble
Collarbone: I’m afraid to be visible
Under Arm: It doesn’t feel safe to me
Top of Head: No wonder I stay hidden

Take a deep breath. Notice how you feel. Measure your fear again (0–10).

If you still feel resistance, do a second round:

Side of Hand:
Even though I’m still afraid to be visible, I deeply and completely love and accept myself anyway.
Even though I’m afraid of feeling exposed, I accept who I am and how I feel right now.

Eyebrow: What if I get into trouble?
Side of Eye: I’m worried about being visible
Under Eye: It might attract too much attention
Under Nose: I don’t want to stand out
Chin: I’m afraid to stand out
Collarbone: I don’t want to be a target
Under Arm: I’d rather play small
Head: It feels safer to play small

Take another deep breath. Notice what shifts.

Now finish with this positive round:

Eyebrow: I can feel safe now
Side of Eye: They might not like it, but I’m okay
Under Eye: I’m allowed to shine if I want
Under Nose: I appreciate my capacity for success
Chin: I appreciate all my talents
Collarbone: I choose to feel safer as I succeed more and more
Under Arm: I appreciate who I am
Head: I appreciate how I’m changing

Take one final deep breath in through your nose and exhale slowly. Notice how your body feels.

Being seen is not about being perfect it’s about being real. Your light doesn’t need permission to shine.

The more you show up authentically, the more your nervous system learns that it’s safe to be visible. Over time, that fear softens, and your energy expands to hold more joy, opportunity, and abundance.

If you’d like added support with this, I offer kinesiology sessions that help gently release the deeper patterns of fear, self-protection, and emotional charge that keep you playing small. Together, we can recalibrate your energy to feel safer being seen. 🌷
